What does 24-hour continuousarterial pressure measurement atthe Salvea Polyclinic look like?

In case of suspected hypertension in childhood, the pediatric nephrologist will suggest continuous measurement of arterial pressure.

The child and the parent come in the morning at the agreed time – the nurse sets up the device and educates the child and parent about the functions of the device and the bracelet as well as how to keep an activity diary. After installation, the device will activate itself every 15 to 30 minutes to measure blood pressure values.

While wearing the device, the child is not limited in carrying out his daily activities – only bathing or showering on that day is not recommended due to the sensitivity of the device. The next morning, the child, accompanied by his parents, comes again to the Salvea Polyclinic. Then the nurse will remove the device and download the activity log, and the results of the test will be handed over to the doctor.

Ultrasound of the kidneys and urinary system

Ultrasound of the kidneys and urinary system is a quick and painless test that can be performed from an early age. Using a probe placed against the skin, the doctor can visualize the internal organs and observe any pathological changes. The search is completely painless and harmless for children, and is of great importance in the diagnosis of diseases of the urinary system.

ceVUS –contrast-enhancedvoiding urosonography

The ceVUS scan is used in the diagnosis of vesicoureteral reflux (VUR), that is, the pathological return of urine from the bladder into the ureter, which can be the basis of recurrent urinary tract infections in children.

It is performed using ultrasound and is completely harmless, without the emission of ionizing radiation.

How is the examination performed?

Before the examination, a thin urinary catheter is inserted through the urethra into the bladder with local anesthetic. This is followed by the gradual filling of the urinary system with an ultrasound-visible contrast medium through the catheter, while at the same time the pediatric nephrologist monitors the movement of the contrast through the urinary system with an ultrasound probe.

At the first examination, the nephrologist will give you all the instructions on how to prepare for the examination.

Uroflowmetry

This examination is fast, simple and non-invasive. During the test, the flow of urine per unit of time is measured in such a way that the child urinates into a special measuring container. Uroflowmetry helps us in the diagnosis of various urination disorders in children.
