Babyhandling

At the Salvea Clinic, we take care of strengthening parental competences through counselling, training and courses. One of such educations is babyhandling. The education is intended for everyone – from mothers and fathers, to grandparents, close and extended family. In this training the participants will learn how to handle and treat children properly through the education.

Babyhandling training will teach you:

  • how to properly lift a baby,

  • how to put the baby down in the cradle properly,

  • what is the best way to hold the baby,

  • how to easily and simply dress a baby,

  • turning correctly into the prone position,

  • how to swaddle a baby.

Since the handling techniques change with the baby’s growth and maturity, it is recommended to repeat the education every one to two months.

Bobath therapy

The focus of Bobath therapy in pediatric physiotherapy is to improve the motor skills of children with various developmental disabilities.

Bobath therapy helps develop muscle and nerve control. It is a concept of neurodevelopmental therapy in which elements and patterns of normal motor development of a baby or child are used.

At the Salvea Polyclinic, Bobath therapy functions as a therapeutic appointment and parent education. When conducting therapy, it is important that it continues to be practiced regularly. That’s why we teach parents how to do Bobath therapy exercises at home.

Bobath therapy is used in children in whom the parent or pediatrician has noticed squirming, stiffness/hypertonus, flaccidity/hypotonia, asymmetries in the baby, head and neck lagging, absence of milestones in the baby.

Schroth therapy

Schroth therapy is a three-dimensional therapy intended for children older than 10 years who have X-ray proven spinal curvature greater than 15 degrees according to Cobb.

Therapy is carried out in children diagnosed with scoliosis, kyphosis or increased lumbar lordosis.

Schroth therapy is available to children at the Salvea Clinic as well as education on how to regularly practice exercises at home after therapy. Exercise at home is important because the therapy is optimally carried out 3 to 5 times a week.

The therapy works to reduce pain, the appearance of the back improves, the torso takes on a 3D shape, and you will also learn corrective breathing techniques.

Inhalation and drainage

At the Salvea Polyclinic, inhalation and drainage therapy is available for children as part of physiotherapy.

The therapy is used in acute diseases in which the child cannot cough up secretions. It is about therapy, but also about educating parents, who will be able to practice the learned methods for stimulating expectoration at home.

Inhalation and drainage are useful for stimulating expectoration and facilitating breathing in bronchitis, pneumonia and acute, more severe conditions.

The procedure at the Salvea Polyclinic looks like this: the child is initially inhaled, which helps to soften and release secretions. This is followed by drainage, where the child is placed in certain positions, and with massage and specific movements of the therapist, secretion is stimulated. This technique, also called percutaneous vibration therapy, helps to release secretions from the airways, making breathing easier.
